The American Society of Church History is an organization devoted to building a diverse community of scholars that includes all who share an interest in religious history. As such, ASCH welcomes and values independent scholars who contribute to the craft of religious history through situations outside the academy.
The ASCH leadership recognizes that many independent scholars do not have the same calendars or access to travel funds as other members. Thus, we encourage independent scholars to communicate their needs to the Society, to use ASCH as a network to establish contact with other independent scholars, to form a caucus that can meet informally during ASCH conferences or at other times, and to organize and host regional meetings.
